The threat of pedophiles and pimps are an international issue. The internet has no real boundaries, and data brokers have sold information to thieves before. Identity theft is a direct result of sites selling personal information.  It is silly to believe that information collected and sold about you and your child is only for local consumption.
Anyone can buy the information about your child and start contacting them on social networks, or even call them. Cell phone numbers are for sale along with addresses and social identities for less than a dollar. The amount of money you make is available from the brokers. In some parts of the world kidnap, the Yankee is a game played by armed militias and revolutionary troops in fund-rasing efforts.
Big data does not allow us to peaceably opt-out of its creepy practices. It hides in the gutter selling disgusting things. We the people have a number of documented rights foremost among of them is privacy. The legal definition is the right to be let alone. Before that, it is understood within common law that each man shall find security in his name and property. Your name and your children’s name(s) are your property. There is no debate.
